This page explains what Pinnacle Post ("we", "the site") collects when you read us, and what we do with it.
What we collect
Reading counts. The site counts article views with a first-party, cookie-less tally. The tally uses a daily rotating, irreversible hash of your IP address and browser string. It cannot identify you, it resets every day, and it exists so we know which articles are read.
Search queries. When you use the site search, we store the query text, the language edition and whether it found anything. We use this to decide what to write next. We do not store who searched.
Server logs. Our web server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent, time) for security and debugging. Logs are rotated and deleted on a short cycle.
What we do not collect
We do not run third-party analytics. We do not set tracking cookies. We do not operate accounts, newsletters or comment systems, so we hold no names, no email lists and no passwords belonging to readers.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies for readers. A strictly technical session cookie exists only for our editors' sign-in area and is never set on public pages.
Advertising
The site currently carries no advertising. If advertising is introduced, third-party ad networks (for example Google) may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where permitted. This policy will be updated before any such network goes live, with the consent mechanisms required in your jurisdiction (including GDPR/EEA and UK rules where they apply).
Infrastructure
We use Cloudflare to deliver the site quickly and to filter hostile traffic. Cloudflare processes requests on our behalf under its own privacy commitments.
Your choices
You can block the view tally entirely by enabling Do Not Track in your browser — we honour it. You may request deletion of any personal data you believe we hold by writing to [email protected]. Given how little we collect, the honest answer is usually that there is nothing to delete.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be announced on this page with a new effective date.
